The Jazz Man who can get down with funk and boogie, DJ Rushen has been behind the decks for over 20 years. Inheriting his tremendous love for music from his father, a member of the reggae band the Mighty Diamonds in the 70s, he has been going to jazz and soul events his entire life. He gained notoriety by wearing his mum’s Russian-style church hat to Birmingham and Nottingham all-dayers, further delighting attendees with his Cossack and Russian style dancing. Career highlights include playing We Love Soul in London on multiple occasions, DJing in Birmingham, and his 5 year DJ residency for Charlie Wrights in Shoreditch. DJ Rushen remains heavily involved with the jazz and broken beats scene both as a dancer and DJ at various events.
