When: November 7th, 14th, & 21st from 12:30-3:30pm.
Where: Lordship Hub, Highham Rd, London N17 6NU.

After a successful pilot program which ran over spring 2021, OFF BEAT – an introductory drumming workshop series which aims specifically to help people living with anxiety – will take place over three consecutive Sundays in November (7th, 14th, and 21st).

Totally Flawed founder Amy Walshe says:

“The pandemic has seen the number of people requesting professional help for mental health issues such as anxiety rise substantially in the past few months. Group drumming has been proved to help with feeling grounded, accepted and safe which are all key to tackling feelings of anxiety. We hope our course will help educate people in anxiety and how to manage it whilst also giving people the opportunity to learn a new skill and have some fun!”

Learning everything from how to hold sticks to basic patterns, OFF BEAT is co-led by a professional drummer and a trained mental health professional who provides insight into the psychology behind the creative process; helping you translate each new skill into a tool to help participants navigate those turbulent days. Signposting services will be provided by Totally Flawed to help direct participants to further mental health support.

Here is what some of our previous participants had to say:

‘It was a wonderful experience. I had wanted to have a go at kit drumming for a long time but hadn’t found a ‘safe space’ to try it in. OFF BEAT provided just that as well as the opportunity to explore some of the courses of coping mechanisms for the anxieties that I suffer with from time to time’

‘You created a very supportive and fun environment for people to express themselves and to understand themselves better’

With support from ActionFunder, OFF BEAT is being offered to the community for free, with limited spaces available. Here is a link to RSVP.

TESTSET release their long awaited third EP ROTATOR on Thursday, October 21st.

With ROTATOR – Testset's long-awaited 3 track release – they employ a different lens to explore memory noise, rich autumnal moiré moodscapes, phosphene flickers, and psychedelic formations.  Testset’s sonic pattern-making is always catholic and syncretic in its inquiry: mesmeric tessellations, immersive dissolutions, all with fastidious attention to spatial depths and harmonic micro-detail that invites a melding of polyrhythm and body-mind. NEVER ODD OR EVEN. Digital release on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms. https://testset.bandcamp.com ROTATOR will be released […]
